Heart:
The heart is a muscular organ that has four chambers. The heart's job is to pump blood throughout the body. It receives messages from our body that tell it whether to pump more or less blood. The heart is divided into 2 ventricles and 2 atriums. The atria receives blood and pumps it to the ventricles which pump it to our aorta pumping it to our blood vessels.
Blood Vessels:
Blood vessels are composed of mainly arteries and veins stretching 60,000 miles throughout our body. Blood vessels are responsible for transporting oxygenated blood from the heart, deliver nutrients to the body's cells, and return deoxygenated blood back to the heart.
Blood:
Blood is made up of white blood cells, red blood cells, platelets, and plasma. It is responsible for protecting against bacteria and diseases, transporting gases including CO2 and O2, and regulating our pH and water balance.
